Under the motto "live comfortably", “die werke” supply the population of Wallisellen with electricity, heat and water. Together with the creative agency and long-time partner hellermeier, C-Matrix supports the energy supplier “die werke” in all aspects of communication – from strategy and creative development through to implementation across social media, their website and customer magazines. They recently launched a broad-based campaign to communicate the ease of buying solar energy from “die werke”. Leaders in the field of renewable energy communication, both agencies are already working successfully with other, non-competing utility firms including IWB, Alpiq, Energie Opfikon, CKW and EWA-Energie Uri AG.
Customer magazine: friendly, modern, cross-media
The first results of the successful collaboration have been on display since the beginning of 2021: The customer magazine "NETZwerke" was redesigned and launched in terms of visuals and content. It is published quarterly and highlights interesting facts about the team, energy and sustainability topics. The content is based on an SEO analysis and internal surveys. This ensures that the questions and concerns of “die werke” customers are addressed.
A digital-first strategy enables readers to be guided directly from the magazine to detailed information on the website. This creates an active exchange and allows “die werke” to offer added value online - for example in the form of reports, photos, videos or surveys.
Campaign: Solar power, closer than ever
Solar energy is the communications focus for 2021 and specifically encouraging Wallisellers to use "strom wallisellen" to obtain energy from local solar plants. The latest campaign overcomes a key perceived barrier to using solar power i.e. a misunderstanding that only home owners have access to solar power because they can install solar panels on their roofs. C-Matrix and hellermeier designed a broad-based campaign together combining two key elements: Wallisellen and solar power. The coat of arms of the municipality of Wallisellen serves as a starting point. However, the hand in the coat of arms does not hold a key - as is usually the case - but various objects that Wallisellen’s residents power with local solar electricity. Under the motto "Solar power, closer than ever", locality and renewable energies are seamlessly combined.
The campaign was seen on posters and social media in spring 2021. In the second phase in the fall, it will be further developed into a testimonial campaign: Wallisellers show why they obtain "strom wallisellen". Values such as locality, sustainability and community connect them and based on experience, will encourage more people to make their contribution to the energy transition.
Two agencies with energy experience
The fact that hellermeier and C-Matrix look after “die werke” is no coincidence. The agency partnership prevailed in a pitch not least because of its extensive experience in the energy sector.
"With hellermeier and C-Matrix we have found a partner with whom we see eye to eye. They react flexibly and quickly to our needs and implement them creatively - with a view on the big picture as well as for detail,"
confirms Esther Mumprecht, Team Leader Corporate Communications at “die werke”.
